Tour 3 – Poppeltour (medium)

Sporty tour leading over the old ‚wine way‘ with breathtaking views over Murgtal, through the romantic Rohnbachtal, greater Enztal and Poppeltal. You can make a detour to the summer toboggan run and rest at the spring of the Nagold. Starting and finishing point: at the townhall. You can also start at Poppeltal, Gompelscheuer and Rohnbachtal (Enzlösterle).



Description of the trail

  • Starting point is at the townhall
  • follow the A-road 300 m in the direction of Freudenstadt
  • turn right into ‚Alte Weinstraße‘ (old wine street) in direction of Kaltenbronn
  • carry on til ‚Toter Mann‘ (dead man)
  • now turn right in direction Enzklösterle
  • after 3 km (2miles) you have to turn left at the ‚Steingrundhütte‘ (hut) and follow the signposts in the direction Rohnbach/Enzklösterle, later Poppelsee
  • getting into Rohnbach turn right at the bus stop
  • follow the ‚Enztalradweg‘ uphill
  • cross the river Enz and the ‚Kreis’street at the ‚Petersmühle’(mill)
  • carry on upstream in direction of Gompelscheuer/Poppelsee to Gompelscheuer
  • at the end of the gravel path the trail leads downhill to the ‚Kreis’street and the spring of the river Enz
  • now turn left and follow the bike & hike trail uphill to Poppeltal
  • at the bus stop Poppeltal you have to follow the ‚Kreis’street uphill
  • direction Besenfeld and pass Poppelsee (Poppel lake)
  • about 400 m after passing the lake, turn right at sharp angle into a forest road
  • follow it 3 km (2miles) straight on
  • turn off at the t-junction in direction Besenfeld
  • pass ‚Charlottenhütte‘ (hut) straight on to Urnagold, you can make a detour to the spring of the Nagold
  • keep right along the edge of the forest in direction Besenfeld
  • turn left after the builder’s yard onto the A-road
  • now turn right in direction Besenfeld
  • shortly after, turn left into the second forest road and follow the mountainbike signposts
  • get back to the starting point
